Creating Place Closing Celebration, 15 Sept 23: We gathered at the Turnpike Gallery in Leigh to celebrate all the hard work and talent that has gone into the Creating Place Exhibition. There were musical performances from around the world, free arts and crafts activities, tasty refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the artists behind the show - including Beena Nouri and Ahmed Elzber. This event was a free, unticketed drop-in.

IWD 2023: This event sold handmade items all made by women. All donations went to the groups working on the ground to support people affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey.
Sheba Arts Women & Non-Binary Writers' Group: Commonword and Sheba Arts offered a series of workshops where participants had the chance to develop creative writing skills, meet like-minded people, and learn more about the writing and publication industry. The opportunity was free and had all materials & travel expenses covered for non-working participants. Click on the picture to learn more.
Winter Gathering - Screening of 'Limbo': On 23 December 2022, we met for a winter gathering. We watched the film, Limbo , and spoke about it afterwards. About the film: "Limbo is a wry, funny and poignant cross-cultural satire that subtly sews together the hardship and hope of the refugee experience. Set on a fictional remote Scottish island, it follows a group of new arrivals as they await the results of their asylum claims."
Sheba Arts Creatives' Salon, 9 Sept 2022: This was a friendly and welcoming event with practitioners and artists from across the North. We brought together the creative forces from diverse backgrounds to share ideas and plan ambitious arts. We welcomed artists from any background, working with any art forms and at any stage of their career to attend this event. We offered 10 mins slots to talk to our Producer one to one about practice and projects, as well as welcoming performance artists to showcase their work during the event.
Sheba Festival 2022: This was our fourth annual festival and had the theme of 'Migration & Climate Change'. Click the picture to go to the event page.
Constellations Zoom Workshop, Friday 18 February 2022: We partnered with Phakama to hold a movement and dance workshop via Zoom for women of migrant background. We used the theme of constellations to explore relationships to each other through movement, drawing, and creative writing.

Cats On The Run Virtual Launch, 9 June 2021: We worked with the Lankelly Chase Foundation & RAPAR to produce a series of artworks with 22 undocumented people in Greater Manchester. Click the picture to learn more.
Poetry & Sketching Workshop (Mother Tongue Festival), 11 May 2021: Here we shared space with amazing poets and painters. Poets created inspiring atmospheres of words, sounds, and emotions, which were then translated into a world of colours and sketches by visual artists.
Sharing and Caring 2021: We ran a series of weekly workshops with Culture Bridge for women from migrant communities in Stockport and the surrounding area. In 16 workshops, we explored storytelling, writing, arts, and cooking. This created a safe and supportive space for participants to share skills and experiences. Click the picture to learn more.
Reclaim the Stage 2020/2021: RAPAR Drama, one of our associate groups, worked with the Kahlo Theatre for four months to devise original audio plays by community groups. The groups met online and developed the plays by discussing their experiences of the pandemic. This play was made by members of the Bury community. Click on the image to learn more.

Free online development workshops in 2020: During lockdown we hosted a range of free workshops for individuals from diverse backgrounds who are interested in working in the community arts. We also offered £50 bursaries to people committing to these workshops, who faced barriers with data costs.
Diversity and self-agency in the arts, October 2020: We hosted a seminar online via Facebook livestream exploring diversity, the arts, and Blackness. This was our fifth seminar in an online series exploring diversity.
Diversity in Theatre: This was the fourth online talk as part of our 2020 series on diversity in the arts. We were joined by Sepy Baghaei and Mahboobeh Rajabi.
Shadow Puppet Workshop, 2020: We hosted this event on Facebook Live for participants to join in from home.
Celebrating Diversity Festival 2020: We hosted a digital festival from 17 to 23 August 2020 showcasing new and exciting work including poetry, visual art, animation, and digital immersive theatre. We commissioned 10 artists and hosted conversations with them to hear the stories behind their work. Click the picture to go to the project page.
Diversity and grassroots self-agency - challenges and solutions, July 2020: This event saw a panel of female global majority artists and arts leaders share their artistic journey and their understanding of the barriers which prevent equal representation in the arts. This happened on a Facebook livestream: click to watch!
Diversity and grassroots self-advocacy, event 1, June 2020: This was the first event in our series exploring diversity and self-agency through a range of online conversations. This panel discussion engaged academics, community activists, and artists, to discuss barriers to equal representation in the arts.

Poetry and Music Workshop in Farsi, 19 January 2020: This workshop explored Iranian heritage and was held at the Stockport Friends Meeting House. It was facilitated by Arian Sadr and Mahboobeh Rajabi. The workshop engaged children up to age 15.
Women of Freedom Square Launch, 30 January 2020: On 30 January we launched our play Women of Freedom Square, which looked at Iranian women and their fight for freedom. We gifted 10 free tickets to National Lottery players for the Lottery's 25th birthday celebration. The performance took place at the King's Arms in Salford. Kurdish Song and Music Workshop, 7 December 2019: This workshop was for children aged 6 to 16, and explored the experience of Iranian and Kurdish diaspora in Manchester. It was part of Gardens of Babylon, which you can read more about by clicking on this picture!
Bring Me The Mountain sharing, 4 October 2019: In collaboration with the New Adelphi Studio, Fereshteh Mozaffari's play - an autobiographical piece - told the story of an ethnic woman struggling with mental health whilst trying to find her feet and go back to work. Dance Away The Spiders, 12 October 2019: This piece explored repression, resistance, trauma, and immigration from the perspectives of a group of young refugee women. This performance celebrates the participants' home nations and different cultures, using visual art, textiles, dance, and movement to create a liberating performance for participants and audiences alike. Diversity and Friendship Festival, 23 June 2019: ​In honour of Refugee Week 2019, Sheba Arts presented this Friendship & Diversity Celebration in St Peter's Parish Centre, Stockport.
