Sheba Arts is looking for two new board members to join our vibrant leadership team.
About us
Sheba Arts CIC is a community arts organisation led by artists from migrant and refugee backgrounds. We were established in 2018 as a response to the absence or misrepresentation of the migrant and refugee voices in the arts industry. We have since grown to be the only migrant arts organisation working across Greater Manchester. We have strong regional and national links.
Our Board determines policy and sets the strategic direction of the organisation. Board members play an active role in representing Sheba Arts externally as well as monitoring our work against agreed objectives and targets.
This is a pivotal time for our organisation with ambitious ideas, programmes and a critical role to play in championing, campaigning for and supporting artists from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
Sheba Arts is committed to being an inclusive organisation and we are seeking applications from people from a range of backgrounds and ages. As a UK-wide organisation we accept applications from across the country and if you need to travel to Manchester for a meeting, we will pay reasonable expenses.
We strongly encourage applications from Wigan, Rochdale, and Oldham.

- Contribute to the overall development and growth of the organisation, taking an active role in the strategic planning of Sheba Arts activities;
- Ensuring that the organisation is well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up;
- Attending meetings of the Board of Trustees (generally held quarterly in Manchester but remote participation is possible);
- Be an active champion of Sheba Arts
• Affinity with the organisation's vision;
•Committed to generating positive change in society;

An exciting project for young people aged 17-24
WHERE DO WE BELONG?
This project explores how it feels for young people from refugee and migrant communities, to access cultural spaces in Greater Manchester and the UK. We're interested in exploring if spaces like galleries, libraries, university buildings and theatres are places where you feel welcome, included and heard.
Are you aged between 17-24 years old and from a refugee or migrant background or seeking asylum/Undocumented?
Are you interested in exploring how people from refugee and migrant communities are represented and recognised within cultural/ elite spaces and how this affects feelings of belonging?
Would you like to connect with cultural organisations, get creative, meet like-minded people and share your work and voice across Europe?
If you answered YES to the above, we would like to invite you to participate in a series of workshops with your age group to explore these themes and get creative, or to simply share your views with us. We will reimburse your travel expenses, there will be refreshments and a Thank You voucher for your contribution.
➡️ Please email webelong@rapar.org.uk to confirm your attendance or if you have any questions.

Become a volunteer

Here at Sheba Arts, we focus on building up local artists, leaders and volunteers to support year-round programming across a range of projects.
We believe that through the process of creating collaborative art within diverse communities, we can come together and truly create social change. Our projects are organised and facilitated in partnership with local artists, grass-roots organisations, schools, charities and international organisations to ensure we can support locally-led programs and long-term, integrated presence within the communities we serve.

Local community volunteers have the passion and skills required to make life-changing impacts on the communities we work with. From project management, to assisting in admin duties, every role is vital to ensure we bring our communities together.
There is a lack of opportunities for children, youth and adults who represent crisis-affected communities, and lack the resources and infrastructure to provide these programs on their own. If you would like to volunteer for Sheba Arts then contact admin@shebaarts.com outlining your ideas and the areas you are interested to work in.
