We have partnered with Ahmed Iqbal Ullah (AIU) RACE Centre and Education Trust to deliver these creative archiving workshops
which introduced children and their families to archiving.
AIU RACE Centre is a specialist open-access library and archive, focusing on the study of race, migration and thinking about race,
anti-racist activism and the fight for social justice.
There has been links between Armenia and Britain since the 13th century and Armenians first settled in Manchester in the 17th century.
This workshop focused on Aratta Collection (GB3228.87). A project which ran between July 2018 - June 2019, recording 12 oral histories of survivors of the Armenian Genocide and other members of the community and collected information about the Armenians in the North West.
With a focal point on food and the act of gathering people for a meal, the Aratta Collection was used to introduce children
to archiving and different ways of archiving, including oral histories.
